Our Mission Statement

We are an ecumenical community, The Body of Christ, St. Mary of Magdala Church.
As the Church in this place at this time, we are called to:
Gather for worship;
Cherish our living Catholic Tradition; Witness the Gospel;
and Minister to others
as Christians in the world.
All are welcome here.

Most Recent Discernments

From Parish Discernment Meeting Sep 13, 2022:

We believe that as a parish Jesus is calling us to support ourselves as individuals, community, and leadership as we grow spiritually and physically. He is also calling us to reach out to diverse populations, including those who are hungry and suffering both spiritually and physically, in our current ministries, and in new ways that Jesus brings to our attention.

In May of 2021 the Focus Circle recommended to the parish that we hold our next discernment meeting in 2022. Until that time we should continue our efforts to live out  our last discernment from 5/18/19   (see below)

From special discernment meeting regarding use of music by David Haas, held via Zoom on July 22, 2020:

In light of the pain caused by David Haas’ actions, both directly over 30 years and indirectly by triggering the trauma of other abuse survivors, Jesus is calling us as a parish to be sensitive to that pain, and to not use music composed by David Haas at this time.

From Parish Meeting, May 18, 2019

"God is calling us to continue on our current path in support of our ordination candidates, and marketing outreach. God is also calling us to seek better understanding of the range of diversity in our Cape communities and take personal responsibility in responding to it."
